The Children’s Mutual is offering a free booklet – created in conjunction with educational consultants, BEAM 1, and awarded a pfeg Quality Mark 2, Making Sense of Money contains a number of fun games intended for parents or teachers to play with children.
The games are aimed primarily at children between 4 and 8 years old. However, there are also suggestions for easy adjustments to each game which means they can suit a wider age range too. A set of teachers’ notes is also available.
For your free copy of Making Sense of Money, please call Children’s Mutual on 01892 775302, email msom@thechildrensmutual.co.uk or click here for a link to the website.

Below is a link to a site for Hounslow Language Service which has EAL Numeracy Word Booklets for various languages. The booklets can be freely downloaded. I spoke with Karen Kedem from Hounslow Language Service and she has agreed that there are no copyright issues . The site also has EAL books for other subjects. The booklets are available at the site below. When you arrive on the homepage for Hounslow Language Service click on the parents and visitors link. That will take you to the page with a search facility. Type ‘Maths Word Book’ into the search box at the top left which will take you to the appropriate page.

Money Week is a resource which can be downloaded free. It was created by pfeg which is English based and LTScotland have adapted it to suit the Scottish system. The resource aims to raise financial awareness in primary schools during a week of activities which involves the whole school. I have attached a sheet with the a list of possible contacts for the various topics and stages and I will add to this list if and when I find other useful contacts. The resource is also useful for key tasks. Click here for link MONEY WEEK CONTACTS
