Primary Physical Education

New year, new exciting developments, new courses.
Working closely with the developmental Physical Education team from Edinburgh University, we are pleased to offer a number of “cutting edge” courses.
The first one was actually on Monday, 28th January, from 6.30p.m. -9p.m., when 38 keen people turned up at Summerhill to hear Mike Jess tell us about early years physical activity/education and development.
This successful seminar will be followed up in May (16th) with a whole day on
Developmental Physical Education in the Primary School, with a focus on Curriculum for Excellence, innovative and inclusive practice and support materials to further develop this key area.
Application forms will be out with a range of courses on offer for that day (soon). However, if you feel that this is for you, please don’t hesitiate to get in touch and I will put your name on the growing list.
As part of the drive to support teachers with CPD in PE, the postgraduate course 3-14 physical education has now signed up a further 6 class teachers. This brings the total number of teachers on the course to 20. Aberdeen is seen as a hub for this course and we work with colleagues from Aberdeenshire, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. It is all very exciting and goes hand in hand with practical and theoretical support courses for teachers in Basic and Early Moves and Movement for Excellence.
Movement for Excellence is part of a research project in partnership with Edinburgh university. More of this in a later blog.
